387YE Autumn Equinox Senate sessions

Overview

The Imperial Senate governs the Empire, and its authority extends to all areas of Imperial life not already covered by the other houses of government. Each summit the senators meet several times to deliberate and vote on the motions they have raised.

After the summit the civil service enact those motions, and ensure a public record of each is made available to the citizens of the Empire. This page lists all the motions raised during the summit, along with the announcements made by citizens with Imperial titles. In each case, the motion and its effects are summarized including the wording; who proposed and seconded it; whether it passed or not; whether any funds were disbursed to support it; and what the outcome of the motion will be.

Many motions (especially the commissions) also have a Further Details section that provides a link to a wiki page dealing specifically with that motion in more detail, any commentary from the Constitutional Court, progress on commissions, or expanded information about the outcome of the motion.

Following the mandate enacted by Luca i Taziel i Riqueza after the Winter Solstice 385YE the number of commissions available has been reduced as the faithful have been convinced to withdraw their labour. This will continue until either the Imperial Senate uses a motion to assign fines from the magistrates to the Virtue fund or the Prosperity Assembly uses a clearly worded Statement of Principle upheld with a greater majority to encourage the faithful to once again take up their tools. Grant Spymaster Power to Authorise Foreign Access

• Motion: To grant the Imperial Spymaster the legal power to authorise foreign powers to access Imperial spy networks and smugglers' coves, by announcement in the Military Council.

• Motion: To grant the Imperial Spymaster the legal power to control all access to Imperial spy networks and smugglers' coves, by announcement in the Military Council.

Criminalise Disciples of Sulemaine

• Motion: The Disciples of Sulemaine are enemies of the Way. True Sword Scholars are loyal to the Way, they have surpassed Sulemaine and turned their back on unjustified violence. Membership of the Disciples of Sulemaine is made illegal and punishable by death. Mercy is Weakness, their members must be hunted down and dealt with according to Imperial Law.

Establish Sword Scholars

• Motion: To create the Sodality of the Sword Scholars. The Sodality believes: In the pursuit of Wisdom, discipline, and the blade as a symbol of clarity and deliberate action; that Sulemaine, the Paragon of Blades, lived and died three centuries ago and her enemies are not our enemies; all Sword Scholars should act within Imperial law in the prosecution of their virtuous challenges, with our increased responsibilities comes increased obligation to virtue. The Sodality will be led by the Blade of Reason, to be elected annually by members of the Sodality. Funding for the upkeep of the Sodality will be provided by its members, donated directly to the Master of the Mint. The first year will be paid in advance. The Sodality mission: to create and uphold a new legacy of the Sword Scholars and represent their interests to the wider Empire; to combat heretical cults and malign spiritual forces wherever they may be found; and to help the Synod perfect the Way.
