This page lists things that are likely to affect GOD crew, because they're special for this event and change how we normally do things.
This doesn't try to cover everything in the Winds of Fortune: sometimes player ask for information about conjunctions, or about how certain titles or opportunities work. They're things we might be able to help with, but they're not covered here because they don't fundamentally change how GOD processes work.
General event information
This is the Spring Equinox 386YE. This event, dusk is 21:30–22:30. Bows and crossbows cannot be used in Anvil after 21:30, and cannot be used on quests that start after 21:30.
If you have plot wiki access, see also Ref Info Spring 386, which covers a similar but different set of topics.
Character packs
Potions and similar
- Shining like fire: Shimmering Echoes: Any mine that was enchanted with Revelation of the Jewel's Sparkling Heart during 2023 E4 will provide a single deepstone each event throughout 2024 in addition to other benefits. Green iron = warstones, weltsilver = bloodstones, tempest jade = spellstones, orichalcum = heartstones. If someone thinks they should have one, try to find out if they had that ritual cast on them at 2023 E4; if investigating that doesn't explain what's going on, escalate.
Resource production and character income
- Broken Sword: Serpent's Curse: Urizeni congregations will be getting one fewer liao this event.
- Say her name: Cold Winters: Anyone with a resource in Sermersuaq will get an extra 22 rings of income starting next season.
- Parts of speech: Trade in Liao: Characters with fleets that trade with Zemeh in the Sumaah Republic will get different results regarding Roseweald and Liao than those they might have received previously.
- Long shadows: A Prosperous Endeavour: Mages in the Golden Pyramid who were at 2024 E1 should have received two crowns in their character pack. This was missed in the run-up to the event, and will not be in packs. The money has been added to the inventories of the relevant characters; if a player asks to collect it this event, you can book the money out of their inventory and hand it over. If you don't do that, the money will remain in the character inventory and will be in their pack at their next event.
Synod votes
(Noted here because they're printed on character packs even if they're not things that go in character packs)
- Broken Sword: Serpent's Curse: Urizeni congregations will be getting two fewer votes this event.
- Part of this together: Look to the Way: Priests with congregations who preach to the Way will get two extra Synod votes this event.
Ribbons
- Artisans who have crafted items this event should find they have roleplaying effects on them. This is expected. If you get a new character who takes Artisan, ideally they should get a roleplaying effect on the three-season item they get as a new artisan. It's not a big problem if they don't get it, but ideally talk to Adam to get instructions for fixing this up. (Hopefully Adam will remember to brief others about this so he's not a single point of failure…)
Traumatic wounds
- Parched earth: Participation: Unfettered Mind: Some players may have asked for traumatic wounds in their packs. If they didn't email in, we're not able to provide these now.
Magical changes
Accessibility and the regio
If someone wants to cast a ritual in a way that requires a regio, but there are accessibility issues with using the normal Anvil regio, we can potentially let them cast the ritual elsewhere. If someone wants this, you need to check the ref version of this page or get someone (probably a ref) to check for you, as there are several special cases that aren't documented here as they normally only affect regio ritual castings.
Detect Magic / Discern Enchantment
- Hurricane Party: Blood and Salt: You may get players attempting to use Detect Magic on other players. If the target player isn't present and cannot be fetched, escalate to the triage desk, a head of dept, or the refs. If the target is present, confirm with the target whether they have had Merciless Wrath of the Reaver or Blood and Salt cast on them this event while invoking Siakha. If they do, the response includes "this character bears a mark of storms" in addition to anything else it might have.
- Hurricane Party: Wrath: You may get players attempting to use Detect Magic on other players. If the target player isn't present and cannot be fetched, escalate to the triage desk, a head of dept, or the refs. If the target is present, confirm with the target whether they have had Call Down Lightning's Wrath cast on them this event while invoking Siakha. If they do, the response includes "this character is subject to a magnitude 8 Spring enchantment and a boon from a Spring eternal" in addition to anything else it might have.
Merciless Wrath of the Reaver and Blood and Salt
- Hurricane Party: Blood and Salt: These rituals can, if invoked with one ingot of tempest jade per target and drawing blood from each target sufficient to cause one hit of damage, and with each target verbally acknowledging Siakha and accepting her boons, gain extra bonuses. Note that this is IC illegal, so try to be circumspect! If someone does this, you must:
- Clarify that the roleplaying effect will last the entire event unless the character is the target of a new enchantment.
- Tell the target player that, if someone uses Detect Magic / Discern Enchantment on them, they must report that they bear a "mark of storms", as well as anything they would normally report (which may well be nothing). Casting any Detect Magic spell requires a referee (or coming to GOD), and the player must cooperate with this.
- Record on the ritual notes page that Siakha was invoked as part of the ritual casting.
- Record on the character's notes page that the character invoked Siakha as part of the ritual.
Call Down Lightning's Wrath
- Hurricane Party: Wrath: This ritual can, if paid for using only vital honey (Spring vis) and/or personal mana (which would require a Suffusion of Blood potion), with the target marked by the rune of destruction and invoking Siakha by three of her common names, get some extra bonuses. Note that this is IC illegal, so try to be circumspect! If someone does this, you must:
- Tell the target that they get the roleplaying effect in the linked page
- Tell the target player that, if someone uses Detect Magic / Discern Enchantment on them, they must report that they are subject to a boon from Siakha, as well as anything they would normally report (which is almost certainly "and is subject to a magnitude 8 Spring enchantment"). Casting any Detect Magic spell requires a referee (or coming to GOD), and the player must cooperate with this.
- Record on the ritual notes page that Siakha was invoked as part of the ritual casting.
- Record on the character's notes page that the character invoked Siakha as part of the ritual.
Before the Throne of Estavus
- Cities of the Iron Labyrinth: Mystic Scrolls: Someone casting this ritual might use the rune Lann plus an impressive number of ingots to trade for a "mystic scroll". If someone is doing this, get a ref, as they'll need to track it.
Character resources
- As ever, resource diversification and/or upgrade need to happen in downtime; we can't process these in GOD.
