Latest revision as of 13:02, 8 September 2023
This page lists things that are likely to affect GOD crew, because they're special for this event and change how we normally do things.
This doesn't try to cover everything in the Winds of Fortune: sometimes player ask for information about conjunctions, or about how certain titles or opportunities work. They're things we might be able to help with, but they're not covered here because they don't fundamentally change how GOD processes work.
General event information
This is the Autumn Equinox 385YE. Sunset has been defined to be 19:30--20:30 for in-game purposes.
If you have plot wiki access, see also Ref Info Autumn 385, which covers a similar-but-different set of topics.
Character packs
IC letters
- A Little Note About Lashonar: some players will be getting IC letters in their packs "from their Lashonar assigned heretical pen-pal". In some cases, they may be duplicates of letters the players received last event. If that happens, it's because of OOC logistical errors, and the players can discard the duplicate letter.
Resin resources and income changes
- When Spring comes: A Passing Grade:
- Mitwold fleets that raided the Jotun coasts return with double the returns they were expecting
- Marcher fleets that are enchanted with Blood and Salt this downtime will receive an additional four additional measures of Tempest Jade ("Blood and Salt will provide two additional ingots of tempest jade to anyone taking the privateering action, or four additional ingots if they participate in the Raid Kalsea's coastline adventure. Merciless Wrath of the Reaver will provide two additional ingots of tempest jade if they undertake independent action, but unlike the normal effect of the ritual the target military unit will also gain the benefits of the ritual if they support a Marcher army.")
- Rimbaud eyes: The Price of Secrets: Urizeni citizens with a resource in Spiral should receive 2 crowns in addition to their usual income, until further notice.
- Glimmers in the Deeps: Mines that were in Imperial Territories at the end of Summer Solstice 385YE are under the influence of Bright Eyes Gleam in the Depths produce two additional ingots of base material. This effect does not apply to mines located in Liathaven, Brocéliande, or Feroz.
- Dog days are over: A Shortage of Songwrights: Dawnish Troubadours (a character archetype) will be receiving extra income. This only affects players who are troubadours at the start of E4 2023, so there is no way for characters who aren't already troubadours to get the benefit. If a player thinks they should have the benefit (e.g. they think they're playing to the archetype but it's not recorded in the system), raise it with Plot; I have no idea if that's a change we can support.
Potions and similar
- Shining like fire: Shimmering Echoes: Any mine enchanted with Revelation of the Jewel's Sparkling Heart during the Autumn Equinox will provide a single deepstone each season for the next year in addition to other benefits. (Green iron = warstones, weltsilver = bloodstones, tempest jade = spellstones, orichalcum = heartstones.)
League bonds
- Rimbaud eyes: Goldrush: Some players are expecting League voting bonds in their packs. The linked main wiki has the list of characters who should get the bonds; you'll need to click "Expand" to view the list. If someone thinks they should have had a bond and doesn't, or vice versa, if you can't confidently work out why on the basis of the information in the Wind, escalate.
Ribbons
- Shining like fire: Esoteric Algebra: characters with mana sites located in Temeschwar, Sarvos, Tassato, Holberg, Casinea, and Hahnmark should receive one Vitrified Oculus.
Character Resources
- There are various options for characters to diversify, upgrade or change their resources at reduced or no cost. In all cases, players wanting to take advantage of these options need to do so in downtime, either using the downtime options (upgrades and diversifications) or by emailing admin@ (resource changes).
Magical changes
Detect magic
- Rhythms of the Day: once each day during a merrow can essentially have a free casting of EmpireWiki:Detect magic, even if they're not a mage.
General ritual changes
- Eyes on the Empire: Day rituals cast at a regio (i.e. probably not going to come via GOD) may be able to be cast using two units of weltsilver in place of one unit of crystal mana. See the linked WoF page for the list of rituals; players might be able to use this for some other rituals too – if the players want to try, check with the refs.
- Hierarchs of sea and sky: A Record of Sins: Players might ask that you note that they're shrouded when they record a ritual. If they do, just record that in the ritual notes.
- Various storms and saints:Spirits of Stone: If someone is casting a ritual using the regio, they can ask for a curse. They may come to GOD to process such a ritual for accessibility reasons, rather than using the actual regio. If so, coordinate with the refs to sort out the curse.
- Any shroud ritual cast at less than magnitude 100 will fail. Confirm the players know this – it's not meant to be a trap – and if so, record the ritual, take the players' mana, and let them know it fails. Then let the MattCave know (probably by escalating via Alex, Adam or Erin), so they can check if we really want to have the ritual recorded in the database.
Blood and Salt, Merciless Wrath of the Reaver
- When Spring comes: A Passing Grade: If someone is casting Blood and Salt or Merciless Wrath of the Reaver, they may note that they're invoking a boon from the eternal Siakha. If so, confirm they've met the conditions below, and if so record it in the the ritual notes.
- The conditions are that, during the ritual:
- The characters must invoke Siakha by one of her common names: the Maelstrom, the Empress of Sharks, Schiuma Sanguinosa, the Salt-born Devourer, Mother of Wrecks or Blood-in-the-Water.
- They must make the target character of the ritual bleed, i.e. they must do at least one point of damage to the target character.
Sharp Eyes of the Corsair, Revelation of the Jewel's Sparkling Heart, Eye of the High Places, Eyes of the Sun and Moon
- Shining like fire: Esoteric Algebra: a single Vitrified Oculus ribbon can be used in place of four crystal mana when casting any of these rituals.
Hakima's Glass
- Hierarchs of sea and sky: Crystal Weapons: If someone tries to cast Hakima's Glass on an unribboned wand or similar to get a boon from Kimus, that can only happen at the regio, as it's being managed by the regio refs. If a player needs to do this in GOD for access reasons, get the refs involved so they can coordinate with the regio team appropriately.
Gift of Knowledge
- Hierarchs of sea and sky: The Gift of Knowledge: anyone casting Gift of Knowledge at the regio (i.e. probably not involving us unless there are access issues) may get an additional boon. Because this is being administered by the regio refs, you'll need to pass this off to the ref team to resolve.
EmpireWiki:Cast of the Chain of Memory
- Various storms and saints: Twilight Recollections: Someone casting Cast Off the Chain of Memory can use Gloaming to get an additional effect. This is only possible at the regio; if a player comes to GOD because they can't use the regio (e.g. for access reasons), check with a head of department.
EmpireWiki:Ephisis' Scales
- Various storms and saints: Scales and Thrones: Ephisis' Scales can't be used except for pre-arranged trades. If someone tries to cast the ritual and it's part of a pre-arranged trade that the player should be able to tell you about, carry on as normal. Otherwise, confirm the players know about this – it's not intended to be a trap – and if they still want to go ahead (perhaps casting the ritual is important to make some point?), record the ritual, take the players mana, and give them their original phyreps back.
EmpireWiki:Before the Throne of Estavus
- Various storms and saints: Scales and Thrones: If the casters are Varushkan, check the players know about this Wind – it's not intended to be a trap – and if they still want to go ahead (perhaps casting the ritual is important to make some point?), record the ritual, take the players' mana, and give them their original resources back. If they're not Varushkan, the ritual works as normal.
Character deaths
- Various storms and saints: Scales and Thrones: This provides an option for players of Varushkan characters to kill their characters. From GOD's perspective, this is entirely normal character death processing; the prompt is a player decision rather than, say, a battle going wrong, but the result is the same.
