Overview
Notes overviewing stuff.
- Crewing comes first.
We’d like to avoid any situations where we are short on crew – we depend on everyone to be available when they are needed if they have come to Empire on a crew ticket. What we’re asking here is that you always put your responsibilities as crew first, rather than your character’s development or goals.
- Check in and out with your team leader.
Each leader will manage this differently, but in essence what we are shooting for is more along the lines of “Hi Dave, how long can you spare me for” rather than signing in and out in a register. Some of the teams need bodies on the floor all weekend, so this should help the team leaders manage how many people are available. For certain teams (Red hats and Sparkies in particular) the team leader might well be telling you to check back in on Sunday or be on call instead of returning within a few hours. You should still be treating your character as an R&R character.
- No spoilers.
This includes things like warning players that a particular battle will be harder/contain a lot of a certain type of calls for example, as well as directly spoiling plot. Hopefully the reasons for this are obvious.
- Don’t break Imperial laws.
There are a couple of factors at play behind this one. Firstly, empire was designed to be a low PVP system, at least in terms of physically attacking people and taking their stuff. We’d like all crew to help promote this aspect of the game – because we believe it makes the game better.
Secondly, there are potential issues with getting away scott-free by leaving the field and returning to crew roles for the rest of the weekend- while players struggle in vain to hunt down the thief/murderer/arsonist/conclave streaker. That creates an element of disparity between players committing crimes and R&R characters committing crimes – and we’d prefer to just avoid these situations.
* Don’t take on Imperial titles or involved in plot.
Again, this links in to time requirements. Titled positions have duties attached to them in the system and often have meeting that players need to attend in order to fulfil the role. Being involved directly in plot similarly causes time specific issues that full time crew will not be able to fulfil. If you are in a role which requires little duties during the event, this won’t apply in the same way.
* Help the economy.
With the influx of R&R characters into the system, we are keen that the established economy isn’t unsettled too much. Something else we’d like crew to bear in mind is that if they give away or act irresponsibly with their money or resources it effectively devalues these resources to the player base. Please treat your resources as if they have real value to you
