Change of doctrine
No change of doctrine was proposed during the Winter Solstice summit.
Veto
The veto was not sought during the Winter Solstice 383YE.
Statement of principle
The following statements of principle were presented to the assemblies of the Imperial Synod. Those statements which achieved a Greater Majority will be distributed to appropriate assemblies.
Judgement 4
- Assembly: General
- Raised By: Rafael Barossa di Tassato
- Judgement: The Virtuous apply what they have learned: the Sword Scholars undermine this with their ruthless and indiscriminate opposition to the expressed will of the Synod. Their founder, Sulemaine i Taziel, taught them to browbeat, silence, and murder any who raised a dissenting voice. They would rather strike down a soul seeking the right question than face an unwelcome truth. We should stand against such narrow minded and dogmatic behaviour. Those of scholarly inclination should look to the Exemplars Kala Windward and Avigliana di Sarvos, not to Sulemaine i Taziel. Above all, we should not let the will of the Synod be stymied by followers of a lawless sect whose philosophy promotes silence, shame, and inaction.
- Outcome: Upheld with a Greater Majority (1535 - 321)
Mandate
The following mandates were passed during the Winter Solstice. Where there are competing mandates, the one that passes with the largest margin is successful and all other competing mandates are considered to have failed.
Some mandates were upheld by their respective assemblies but failed due to the intervention of the Wisdom assembly and the sword scholars. Judgement 7 (encourage Imperial citizens to find opportunities for cooperation with the eternals), Judgement 17 (encourage citizens to travel to Zenith and offer aid there), and Judgement 53 (encourage Marcher pilgrims to make a pilgrimage to Holberg) were all ineffective as a consequence.
Judgement 3
- Assembly: General Assembly
- Raised By: Genoveva Barossa di Tassato
- Judgement: The Imperatrix called on all her subjects to consider undertaking a pilgrimage - either physical, mental, or spiritual. We send Genoveva Barossa di Tassato with 50 liao to urge every citizen who is able to commit themselves to a pilgrimage of devotion and revelation found in the mandates endorsed by the Synod.
- Outcome: Upheld with a Greater Majority (1624 - 310). Enacted. It will be easier for the Synod to pass mandates following the Winter Solstice.
- Notes: The opportunity is detailed here.
Evaluation
The Synod made the following judgements of excommunication, inquisition, revocation, and sanction.
Judgement 5
- Assembly: General Assembly
- Raised By: Galene Netherwatch
- Judgement: Inquisition. I call Solas of the Waxing Sun to Inquisition at 2pm Saturday in the Hub regarding his use of Excommunication without a Writ.
- Outcome: Automatically upheld.
Recognition
There were no judgements of recognition during the Winter Solstice.
Appointment
At the Summit, the following appointments were proposed by the Assemblies of the Synod. You can find the names of citizens who currently hold Imperial titles in the Synod here.
Judgement 1

- Raised by: Tribune
- Judgement: Appointment of the Cardinal.
- Outcome: Veikko Bondforger was appointed with 129 votes. Sabella of the Silent Tide received 116 votes. Raewyn Eternal received 65 votes. Eurybia "Blue" Mecampus received 30 votes.
Rewarding
The following judgements of rewarding were proposed during the Winter Solstice.
Judgement 8
- Assembly: General Assembly
- Raised By: Rane Sherarding
- Judgement: A rewarding of 30 thrones to Rane Sherarding on behalf of the chapter of Zephaniah's Lament to go towards the 300 throne fine imposed for acts that brought solace and liberty to a thousand souls. Their acts have been proven to be virtuous and worthy of clemency and the assembly is asked to recognise this by contributing to the fine. If the full amount cannot be raised, the 30 Thrones will be returned to the virtue fund. Vote in wisdom, not in rumour.
- Outcome: Not Upheld (573 - 577)
