Crime(s) Description Accused & plea Verdict & punishment
Manslaughter Substantial Agramant activity was reported by witnesses in the Vale of Hollow Pines at the time of the offence. During these events the accused shot dead an old draughir woman with a single arrow. The victim (who was not a Varushkan citizen) had recently attacked Grandmother Aria, first paralysing her then biting off her ear. Boyar Akstis of Eigulys known as “Gully” plead guilty and Rooslin Prochnost plead clemency for him Due to both the circumstances and the clemency plea provided the convict was discharged without punishment.
Murder The accused admitted the murder of Darius of the Emerald Order by stabbing him to death near the Marcher maypole in Anvil. The accused handed himself in, and claimed that he had lost his wits due to the side effects of potion making. While no witnesses to the crime came forward, and the accused said he had no memory of the murder, blood stains were found on his robes consistent with the events. Pugilist of the Emerald Order in the Marches plead guilty and did not claim clemency. Guilty. Death by execution.
Subverting the agencies of the state The accused claimed right of witness in order to investigate a rumour he had heard of slavery in Anvil. He did not have the legal right to do so as he is not a member of the synod. Blood Crow Yargol plead guilty and did not claim clemency. Guilty. Fined six crowns.
Murder and perverting the course of justice The accused were all involved in some capacity with the murder of Brady (for which Tarion of the Black Scar has already been executed). Erian aided the murder by luring Brady into an ambush and then lied about it in one of her statements to the militia. Bernie was the one who planned the murder but he did not personally wield a blade. Klay, their acting Brand, was told by them of the murder after it happened and he asked Erian to lie to the militia. All the accused were of the Black Scar of Navarr. Erian plead guilty to perverting the course of justice and murder. Bernie plead guilty to murder. Klay plead guilty to perverting the course of justice. Aelfin plead clemency for Erian but said it was not a virtuous act. Erian was executed. Bernie did not plead clemency and was executed. Risot Tarn plead clemency for Klay on grounds of loyalty and pride. He was fined five thrones.
Assault The accused all assaulted militia deputy Yaroslav who was guarding an old mine that had until recently been utilised by the Vyig. Viktor, Boris and Alexi von Temeschwar of the League. They all plead guilty. They were fined two crowns each.
Assault The accused (who handed herself in) used her weapon to strike a heavy blow on the arm of a soldier who insulted her after the battle. General Charice of the Eastern Sky plead guilty and claimed clemency. Fined two crowns.
Perverting the course of justice The accused was involved in the formation of the criminal scheme by the Handful of Dust coven in the Brass Coast to give True Liao to an eternal. The accused left this coven and moved to Dawn but because she felt bound by contract to secrecy she only gave very general warnings to Asher (the guide priest who lost his life as a result of their actions). Catalina de Rondel of Dawn plead guilty and Frederick Novarion plead clemency for her. Guilty. Sentenced to suffer the curse of the Freezing Brand of Irremais
Murder (other lesser charges could have also been laid) The accused were all citizens trapped in Reikos during the occupation. When priests arrived and reconnected them with The Way they came to Anvil to face justice for the terrible crimes they had committed in order to survive and so that others could learn from their experiences. Their crimes included killing others in fights over food, burning a house of flux sufferers to prevent spread of the disease, killing a crying child so they would not be found by a Druj patrol, torture and killing of Druj collaborators, cannibalism, killing to end the suffering of the starving and killing those who became a drain on the group's resources. Jolen, Ruth, Caliban and Meliphas all plead guilty and four priests plead clemency for them. The court accepted the necessity of the acts for their survival and the dreadful adversity of their situation, starving and without any hope of outside help. Arguments were made both for and against the virtue of their actions. In considering sentence the court carefully considered whether these citizens were both deserving and capable of rejoining society. Also, whether it is in the imperial interest to execute those left in such intolerable conditions. All were discharged without further punishment but were offered the opportunity to participate in a Highguard cleansing ritual involving a river and weighing down with stones to represent guilt.
Manslaughter (the first accused only) and trade of true Liao to foreigners The accused arranged a past life vision and Asher of Felix Watch, Cardinal of Courage, agreed to accompany her. However, Ysabel had made a pact with the Eternal, Sadogua, to pass her share of True Liao to him magically when she pretended to drink her dose.

As a result Asher went to the labyrinth alone and the vision collapsed. Asher's mortal body died and then vanished.

Barak of Haros, Head of the True Liao team and Livia of the Celestial Cascade, Seer of the gateway, bore witness and confirmed that Ysabel had been given a full safety briefing, that clearly stated that if both participants did not follow the process then the vision would collapse, and that Ysabel had signed her agreement.

The defendants agreed the facts, and stated that their intention was to research the effects of True Liao on an Eternal.

Ysabel I Ergo, Freeborn of the Handful of Dust plead guilty to both charges. Geraile I Erigo,

Maite I Erigo,

Evaristo I Erigo, plead guilty to trade of true Liao to foreigners and had priests plead clemency for them.

Ysabel I Ergo was found guilty and executed. The other accused were found guilty and together ordered to pay a fine of seventy five thrones. When their fine became due the next day they refused to pay and claimed to have given away all their assets. Consequently they were executed.
Manslaughter and assault The accused and others captured some bandits and brought them back through the Sentinel Gate. The victim attempted to flee and was struck down. The victim was kicked in the head by the accused and died in spite of the medical treatment applied at the scene. Arden of Cantiarch's Hold plead not guilty to manslaughter and guilty to assault. Found not guilty of manslaughter and guilty of assault. Fined two crowns.
Assault The first accused attacked Ursil de Luisignan with his wand after getting into an altercation. The second accused attacked Tremayne de Luisignan with his sword after he got involved.

Selen de Rondel and Robert Greyshanks. Both plead guilty.

Selen de Rondel was fined four crowns. Robert Greyshanks was required to apologise to the victim.
Attempted Treason The accused took a conjunction to meet the eternal Jaheris to discuss the (then current) Enmity with Eleonaris but, rather than meeting Jaheris arrived at an audience with Eleonaris herself.

Some members of this party had already been advised by the Dawnish egregore not to speak with Eleonaris if this happened.

The court probed the nature of the meeting to discover if any of the delegation intended to negotiate and deal with Eleonaris but found no evidence of attempted treason.

Duke Orzel of Dawn along with the other members of his delegation. They all plead not guilty. The accused were found not guilty but given words of warning with regards to talking to enemies of the Empire in the future.
