| 2 Downtimes to research a new item. Produces a single one year copy of the item. Character in charge of the forge may at that point learn the ability to make the item if they spend 1xp.

| An artisan may spend ilium to make a schematic using one month of downtime. It's the same cost as making an artifact of that item. The character receives a schematic - instead of the artefact.

| The Senate could vote to spread the knowledge of the schematic - it would cost 10 Thrones (and the schematic). The Senate could devolve that voting power to another body.
