The stories of Good Walder hail from the Marches. Accounts vary of this bluff, good-natured, traveller, including that he was a travelling merchant, pilgrim or was simply restless. In most stories, Good Walder would come upon a village and holding and, if he found the people there were good and virtuous, their fields would flourish, their labours succeed and they would know health and happiness.
