387YE Autumn Equinox Senate sessions

Overview

The Imperial Senate governs the Empire, and its authority extends to all areas of Imperial life not already covered by the other houses of government. Each summit the senators meet several times to deliberate and vote on the motions they have raised.

After the summit the civil service enact those motions, and ensure a public record of each is made available to the citizens of the Empire. This page lists all the motions raised during the summit, along with the announcements made by citizens with Imperial titles. In each case, the motion and its effects are summarized including the wording; who proposed and seconded it; whether it passed or not; whether any funds were disbursed to support it; and what the outcome of the motion will be.

Many motions (especially the commissions) also have a Further Details section that provides a link to a wiki page dealing specifically with that motion in more detail, any commentary from the Constitutional Court, progress on commissions, or expanded information about the outcome of the motion.

Following the mandate enacted by Luca i Taziel i Riqueza after the Winter Solstice 385YE the number of commissions available has been reduced as the faithful have been convinced to withdraw their labour. This will continue until either the Imperial Senate uses a motion to assign fines from the magistrates to the Virtue fund or the Prosperity Assembly uses a clearly worded Statement of Principle upheld with a greater majority to encourage the faithful to once again take up their tools. Allocate the Singing Caves

• Motion: To allocate the Singing Caves
• Raised by: Speaker for the Senate at the Friday evening session
• Further Details: The Singing Caves have been claimed by the Empire. They can be allocated as a national seat, for the Marches and appointed by Tally of the Votes; an Imperial seat, and auctioned off; or the motion rejected and raised later. Allocate the Arch of the Sky

• Motion: To allocate the Arch of the Sky
• Raised by: Speaker for the Senate at the Friday evening session
• Further Details: Work on the Arch of the Sky has been completed. They can be allocated as a national seat, for Urizen and appointed by Tally of the Votes; an Imperial seat, and auctioned off; or the motion rejected and raised later. The Arch of the Sky is in Operus, Zenith, that produces 18 wains of white granite each season.

Confirm Trade with Zemelslo

• Motion: The Senate confirms that trade with Zemelslo is permitted under the terms of the Liberty Pact.
• Raised by: Speaker for the Senate at the Saturday evening session
• Further Details: Zemelslo is a small nation bordering and allied with Jarm. It has recently offered to open trade with the Empire, but the Civil Service have raised concerns about Zemelslo's dependence on Jarm and the potential political implications. Grant Spymaster Power to Authorise Foreign Access

• Motion: To grant the Imperial Spymaster the legal power to authorise foreign powers to access Imperial spy networks and smugglers' coves, by announcement in the Military Council.
• Raised by: Speaker for the Senate at the Saturday evening session
• Outcome
• Notes: This motion would allow the Imperial Spymaster to extend access to Imperial espionage assets to foreign nations. More details can be found in the Bedight in veils wind of fortune.

• Motion: To grant the Imperial Spymaster the legal power to control all access to Imperial spy networks and smugglers' coves, by announcement in the Military Council.
• Raised by: Speaker for the Senate at the Saturday evening session
• Outcome
