Interlude
The Summer Solstice winds of fortune will come out shortly before the next event (which is July 27th to July 29th as it happens). However, there are a number of significant events happening in the wake of the Spring Equinox that may affect some players' Downtime actions - primarily effects on personal resources.
As a temporary measure we'll be outlining, and offering some context for, these various effects on this page. In each case, there will be further information in the Summer Solstice Winds of Fortune - once they're ready, they'll replace this content. As always, these are quick OOC summaries to explain effects such as large-scale enchantments and curses. We'll cover all these and more when we start to present the Winds of Fortune for next event.
Downtime is due to close at midnight on the 29th of June - which is also the early booking deadline.
Warfare
Any players whose character controls a military unit can choose from a number of downtime options. Left to their own devices, a military unit defaults to paid work guaranteeing an income of herbs, ingots or measures, money, or mana crystal. Otherwise, they may log into the downtime system and choose to support an army or fortification, or assign to a special project such as a spy network. By browsing the available army options, the player can read the orders issued by the general of each before making their decision.
Imperial Guerdon
The Imperial Guerdon is a bursary set up by the Imperial Senate primarily to reward military units that support Imperial armies, spy networks, and fortifications. The value of the Imperial Guerdon is divided between each military unit and fleet that supports an army in proportion to their effective strength. The Quartermaster General of the Imperial Armies has the power to exclude any or all navies from the Guerdon. If they do so, then a character who supports such a navy will receive nothing for doing so.
This season, the Quartermaster General of the Imperial Armies has announced that shares of the Guerdon will be paid to captains supporting the following forces:
- Bloodcloaks
- Tusks
- Wolves of War
- Fire of the South
The Guerdon stands at 175 Thrones. If you support an army that is not on this list, or you support a fortification or spy network, you will get no Guerdon shares.
Effects
These are only the things that directly effect downtime productions; a proper list of strange and marvellous effects will be part of the Summer Solstice Winds of Fortune.
Trading on the Bay
While Grendel ships are keep to attack Imperial traders, they are out of luck this season - every fleet they try to attack seems to just slip through their fingers. As such, there is no penalty to trade for fleets based on the Bay of Catazaar this season.
Storms and Sadness in Spiral
Two things are effecting the production of personal resources in Spiral. Firstly, someone has cast Foam and Spittle of the Furious Sea there which reduces the production of any fleet resource based in the territory. Secondly the Black Plateau is on a rampage, reducing the production of everything - including fleets and military units - by a quarter.
Nemoria in Flux
The port of Nemoria no longer provides herbs to Imperial captains visiting it; instead it provides cash. We've also made a few tweaks to the production of this port in general to smooth out some bugs. You can see the basic production gained from any port for a fleet of any rank up to 15 here. On top of the basic production, the bonus effects from diplomacy (an extra orichalcum and an extra iridescent gloaming) are still in force.
Jarmish port Shennanigans
This is complicated. Rigia is currently closed - nobody can visit it. Vezak is still providing Imperial captains who visit with an additional mana crystal. However the Synod mandate discouraging people from trading with Kavor and Vezak is still in place meaning any captain who visits either port also gains two fewer crystal mana. Jarm is all over the place!
Feni in the Mourn
A substantial tribe of Feni is engaged in raiding in the Mournwold. As such every farm and business resource in the territory loses 36 rings, and each herb garden receives two less herbs at random.
Conquered Territories
Liathaven and Zenith are conquered by barbarians, and so any personal resource in either of those territories that is not protected by a Vale of Shadows suffers halved production this season.
Mandates
(Some) mandates were successfully upheld in the Imperial Synod. You can find the details of all the mandates, along with the rest of the Synod judgements, here. As always, these mandates only have an effect if the named priest provides the appropriate amount of liao and emails Profound Decisions.
Some of these mandates will have an effect this downtime; we'll update this page and adjust the Facebook and forum posts to reflect this once we have confirmation a mandate is happening.
