The rings themselves, in deference to their name, often bear bands of different colours or are set with gemstones of several different colours. The connection to Meraud might be played up, incorporating a hawk or a fox into the metalwork.

Description

The Ring of the Rainbow Sage was designed at the Spiral Sword in Cargo, under the guidance of Tisserande Griffinsbain. The original schema was shared with Imperial artisans by the Imperial Senate during the Spring Equinox 387YE. The motion was raised by Thalia of Netherwatch, the senator for Redoubt, and funded by Tisserande themselves.

The ring is named in honour of Meraud, the Rainbow Mage, and the gift he gave to the Urizen youth Leo the Rainbow Sage. It resembles the Ring of Triumph in some regard, but is focused entirely on the practice of Summer magic - it rivals the Captain's Garb in terms of the raw power it can provide. It can only be invoked once per day, but leaves the wearer feeling exhilarated, strengthening their contact the raw power of Summer magic – a bottomless well of strength that surges through and around them as they work their ritual. In the end, they are able to bend that potency to their will, to make it their servant or ally, and the experience often leaves them panting but triumphant.

The rings themselves, in deference to their name, often bear bands of different colours or are set with gemstones of several different colours. The connection to Meraud might be played up, incorporating a hawk or a fox into the metalwork.

Rules

  • Form: Talisman. Takes the form of a ritual focus. You must be wearing this item or holding it in hand to use its magical properties.
  • Requirement: You must have the magician skill to bond to this item.
  • Effect: Once per day you may use this ring to gain two additional ranks of Summer lore for the purposes of performing a single ritual, subject to the normal rules for effective skill. Using the ring leaves you feeling exhilarated, as if you had touched a bottomless well of raw strength and bent it to you will.
  • Materials: Crafting a Ring of the Rainbow Sage requires seven measures of ambergelt, six measures of dragonbone, nine ingots of tempest jade, and nine ingots of orichalcum. It takes one month to make one of these items.
