Empress Vesna Borkovna Prochnost

Reign: 385 YE - ?? YE

Called: -

Early Life and Election

The youngest of seven children, Vesna Borkovna Prochnost was raised on a pumpkin farm in the woods of Srodkoja before leaving home to join the Wardens of the Grateful Hearth. Their first journey to Anvil was at the Winter Solstice of 382YE, spending the year gathering allies and working to strengthen the nation of Varushka. She was elected senator for Ossium in Winter 383 and re-elected again in 384: two terms during which she worked hard in the interests of the people, passing motions to extend the Iron Roads and appraise other improvements to the territory.

Their service has not been entirely without controversy - she was called to inquisition for their part in the Winter 383YE treaty with the Thule, but the questioning passed without further resolution. During the Autumn summit of 385, she received the support of the Conclave and shortly after Vesna Borkovna Prochnost was elected to become the twenty-first Imperial Throne.

Reign

Empress Vesna was duly crowned at the Winter Solstice 385YE. Unlike their predecessor, she was crowned with the Imperial Crown following its return by the Sumaah Republic. Their coronation was attended by dignitaries from across the Known World, as well as representatives from several eternal realms.

Each Throne is granted the right to pick their own title, to decide how they will be referred to. Emperor Vesna has informed the Civil Service that they should use both Emperor and Empress interchangeably when referring to the Throne by name. Citizens are free to use either title, although those looking to please the Throne may wish to adopt the same approach as the Civil Service. The Throne has further indicated that their pronouns are she/they.

The new Throne had their work cut out for them. Vesna's inaugural address urged Imperial citizens to embrace a unity that had become increasingly fragile in preceding years. It was welcomed in many parts of the Empire, being seen as both a message of reconciliation, and a clear statement that the Empire's strength lay in the bonds between the ten nations. Those who respected the Empire and accepted the hand of friendship had nothing to fear; those who tried to take Imperial citizens for fools however would encounter a very different response.

Death and Legacy

At the time of writing, Empress Vesna is still alive.
