			The Spire of the Celestial Cartographers is a new spire founded out of an old one, at a troubled moment for Redoubt.

			The original spire (known as Ephemeris) was created in pre-Imperial days as an offshoot of the settlement of Elos. It lived up to its name by virtue of the instructional maps of the constellations picked out in light stones on the central tower. The scholars of Ephemeris had been known for developing navigational star charts used by Urizen fleet captains. Its small library was based on this, diversifying into political texts after Nicovar’s reign. In more recent times, the spire had become a haven for those interested in becoming magi, although fleet owners and those interested in trade have always been well represented.

			The events of 387YE proved a turning point for the Spire. Migrations out of Zenith and Spiral had created changes in the population’s focus over time, and plans had been made to form a new spire with the completion of the Rhianos' Great Race and subsequent publication of the purported "map of the known world". This crystallised into tumultuous change with the invasion of Naris and the evacuation of Ephemeris. This left behind a band of fleet captains and their allies operating out of Cargo, calling themselves the Celestial Cartographers, with their sights firmly set on resettling the star-studded towers when the opportunity arises.

			Current expertise within the spire includes fleet operations, trading, and historical research. Magical skills focus chiefly on Autumn with some expertise in Day lore.
