Once in possession of significant property in the Caricomare district of Sarvos, they were hit severely by its flooding and their influence has waxed and waned considerably since then. Their guild palace was rebuilt on piles out in the waters of the Caricomare and was, for a while, only reachable by gantries or a chain ferry.

 In recent times, following the death of Empress Britta, the Butchers Guild became fabulously prosperous by dominating the Bourse and founding the League Trading Company.  With its great wealth it has funded many great works for the Empire, including the Colossus of Sarvos, the Bloody Theatre of Temeschwar, the Blood Red Quays Art Gallery of Sarvos, the Blood Red Museum of Tassato, the Lorenzo Legacies of Virtue and, most impressively of all, 'The Butchers Benevolence: The Blood Red Roads'.

			Adelaarsgilde was founded in the wake of the [[379YE_Spring_Equinox_winds_of_war#Hammer_and_Blade\|liberation of Holberg]] in 379YE by the grandchildren of Hippoliete van Holberg and their spouses. The guild's twin raison d'êtres are to improve the quality of discourse around religion, magic, trade and politics within the Empire, and to introduce their young children to the ways of Anvil, so that they might better become virtuous and clever citizens.

			The most famous Adelaarsgilde venture is The Great Debarcle, a conversation café in Holberg which combines home baked Holbergian delicacies with academic debates. The Great Debarcle is home to Adelaarsekte, which has strong links to the university and has been influential in encouraging Holberg's citizens to extend their hospitality to the Sand Fisher orcs. In Holberg, the café is frequented by both local and visiting priests. Adelaarsgilde is financially supported by a number of businesses, including importers of victuals and fabrics, a bank and trading house, with the latter two being notable for their open policies on pricing. The conversation café is further supported by the family’s bakers, who produce a variety of savoury and sweet goods.

			All members of Adelaarsgilde are trained in dramaturgy, exploring the liminal spaces between Night and Day, and of particular note are their rituals performed through the apprenticing of younger members of the guild - often chaotic affairs replete with mishaps, setbacks, and mayhem.

As well as travelling the length and breadth of the empire, this free company has also fought in the distant battlefields of Axos and Faraden. There are many important guilds, cartas, troupes and more in the League. Despite the number, only a comparative handful are involved in the affairs of the Empire (that is, attend the seasonal summits at Anvil). Their influence can wax and wane, and involvement in Imperial affairs is not always a reflection of their prominence within the nation itself. This page presents in-character information about the groups that attend, or have attended, [[Anvil]] — the kind of thing that someone who asked about them might uncover from talking to their peers. In each case, the information is provided by the players and edited before being put on the wiki.

			The majority of groups listed here are made up of player-characters. You should not create a character who is part of a group, or has personal history with one, without first clearing it with the appropriate players. You should also check before including other players' groups in your background. The background team are unlikely to approve a background that significantly impacts or involves another player character group without their permission.
