			The theatre was named after Domingo Martim de Tassato, famed for his acting, scriptwriting, directing, and leadership of The Masked Jackdaws of The Clattering Curtain. Martim is also known for his enthusiastic encouragement of new theatrical talent, running the Cosmo memorial theatrical prize competition for novice writers and performers at Anvil each year. As well as the main theatre stage, featuring stalls, circle seating and four private boxes, the theatre contains a second, much smaller, theatre which is often used for rehearsals, fondly known as Lucy’s Little Theatre. Lana's green room is available to performers for aftershow parties and is often booked for small theatrical gatherings.

			There are several workshops run at the theatre, including Kasimir’s Puppet & Costume studio, which involves script writing and lessons on puppeteering regularly led by Kasimir; and Bianca's writing salon, charmingly styled in pale blue with a butterfly theme, featuring many mirrors, a chaise longue and a writing table by the window. The standard range of dressing rooms is available backstage.

			There are four private boxes; each named after patrons of the theatre. The Jackdaws Nest, the Critic's View, Cesare's Rest, and the Golden Box of Summer each come equipped with indulgent seating and a selection of snacks and fine vintages suitable for the performance being observed.
