The wolves tempt you
Cousins,
Last season Alderei the Fair was slain fighting in the Sarangrave. Her legacy in the Military Council and to the nation of Varushka endures. The final pillar of the memory of the Iron Helms.
The story of the Iron Helms was not without blemish, but its final chapter speaks to a wider truth on the nature of this Empire that must not be forgotten. The schlacta of the Helms fell fighting to the last for a nation that was not their own. The cruelty of the Druj held no terror over them as they went hand in hand with their Imperial siblings.
This Empire is a promise we make to one another, which we renew every day. An unbreakable bond of loyalty. It is an oath to fight for one another, to hold each other up.
I ask one thing of you this season, my cousins. When the nights are bitter cold, when all feels lost and the Wolves tempt you from the path. Think of this. Who has fought for me? Who has lifted me up? Who has died for me? And who will stand with me again?
We face many challenges and many hard choices. The Empire, her people, and her laws are the path that lead us through the darkness of the woods. The road to salvation is hard, but we are walking it together.
We are strong because we are inextricable.
This season I would like to commend:
The Imperial Auxiliaries for their incredible work under difficult circumstances at the last summit.
Edward of Gwent for his years of service to the people of Mitwold.
The Vallornguard for their work arranging military units to fight the Vallorn in the Sarangrave in Spring.
The Marches for self-funding their fifth army in a single season.
My wife to be, Sally B Baker, for her service to her home in its darkest hour and for reminding me of the bonds of loyalty.
Inextricable. Indefatigable. Inevitable.
Emperor Vesna
Empress of the Hearth, Crowned in Thunder.
Warden Queen of Dawn
Overview
The Throne has the power to nominate a single Imperial citizen who can deliver a message to the people of the Empire at each summit. It is common practice for the Throne to use this power themselves, when they wish to speak to all their people about important matters. As always, the civil service has ensured the message is heard by citizens across the Empire and beyond.
This season, Emperor Vesna has used their power to address the Empire to send a message to all Imperial citizens. While being careful to avoid naming any one group, the address appears to remind every citizen that the Empire fights for them every day and urges them not to be lured from the path by wolves. It may well be that the address has been cleverly crafted to send a message to the Navarr fighting desperately for their survival in Therunin, while cunningly avoiding the wicked trap set by Agramant. If so, it remains to be seen how the Good Knight plans to respond.
