Guard of the Proud Quill Parcel
Overview
The Guard of the Proud Quill Parcel is an Imperial title appointed by the senators of Wintermark. The Guard has custodianship of the Proud Quill Parcel, a herb garden announced by Cormack Dun, as Bearer of an Imperial Wayleave, during the Autumn Equinox 386YE. Construction was completed shortly before the Spring Equinox 387YE.
Responsibilities
The Guard of the Proud Quill Parcel has a responsibility to protect the Proud Quill Parcel and to ensure the safety of those visiting the Proud Quill pub. If the garden or the pub, or the visitors to either, were to be threatened, it would be the responsibility of the Guard to deal with those threats.
Powers
Produce of the Parcel
The Guard receives an income of herbs each season: 9 drams each of Imperial roseweald and bladeroot, and 6 drams of marrowort.
Appointment
The Guard of the Proud Quill Parcel is appointed by unanimous decision of the Wintermark senators. If a unanimous decision cannot be reached, the title may be appointed by the Imperial Senate instead.
The title can be held by a Wintermark citizen. The Guard has tenure, and serves until they die or step down. They can be revoked by the General Assembly, the Wintermark National Assembly, and by the Assembly of the Nine.

The Proud Quill Parcel
The Proud Quill is an ale house next door to The Oathwright offices, which trades in herbs and potions. The Proud Quill Parcel is a herb garden in open ground behind the pub. The Proud Quill pub served a clientele of scops in central Kalpaheim for several generations until it closed during the war with the Thule. It was reopened by The Oathwright in 383YE and is home to Cormack Dun and his hall.
The Title in Play
The role does not provide additional information about events in the Empire, nor allow the player holding it to request special reports or downtime actions. These details are assumed to be below the abstraction layer. The title holder is encouraged to create their own stories about their activities within reasonable limits and to get involved in events appropriate to their title during the game, but they do not have any powers beyond those explicitly listed in the section on powers.
These details exist partly to provide context and character to the role - and partly to allow our writers to use the title as a plot hook. Plot that involves the position will be rare - but all the campaign positions in Empire have these details to create the potential for it to happen.
